Prayer is our greatest neglect, but also our country’s greatest need. Prayer softens hearts and brings transformation in our communities! We don’t just have to stand by and watch the brokenness. We can stand up for our streets by getting down on our knees.
In I Timothy 2:1-4
Paul urges Timothy and the generations of believers to come, “that entreaties and
prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in
authority, so that we
may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
As believers, we need to pray
for everyone in our spheres of influence.
if prayer seems to you a diversion from productivity, remember God does more in five seconds than we can in five hours
John Piper• We are doing the will of God when we
intercede for the needs of others.
• It gives us a vision for the lost.
• It helps us focus on our responsibility to reach our
neighbourhoods.
• Prayer draws believers closer to the heart of God.
• Prayer releases God’s power in the believer to follow His plan.
• Satan trembles at specific, Biblical prayer.
Our
neighborhoods are plagued by addictions, abuse, divorce and discord. Our streets are crushed under
the weight of sin and brokenness. As believers we have bought into the lie that the situation is
beyond redemption. We have given up,
lost hope, become apathetic. Our prayer lives can often be me-centered or simply cover the needs of
our family. But can we afford to stand by?
Every day we
witness struggle and sin, darkness and discord. But what we see around ismanipulated by what our
eyes cannot perceive. There are unseen forces of darkness in our atmosphere which is a real spirit
world that daily influences
the lives of people. Eph 2:2 clearly states that the prince of the power of the air works in the
children of disobedience. It is up to us to cleanse the atmosphere of these evil spirits and our God
has empowered us to do so.
• Prayer Warriors pray with hearts of compassion.
• They pray for the impossible as readily as the possible.
• They pray with intensity.
• They pray about anything and everything.
• They pray specifically and persistently.
• Ask God to remove the blindness from their minds.
• Ask God to bring light into the darkness they are experiencing.
• Ask God to deliver them from the spirit of disobedience.
• Ask God to reach through their hardened minds.
• Ask God to set the captives free.
Street Prayer
is a simple movement – you as a believer commit to praying for your street, your community. Yet the
impact of prayer is far from simple. It’s extraordinary. It’s transformative. It’s supernatural. If
every believer takes
up that same challenge, your state, your country – and eventually the whole world – is covered in a
blanket of prayer. Sign up for Street Prayer – you do your thing and watch God do His. Witness
revival in your neighborhood!
